Termites in homes are very common here on Kauai. During the home buying process, a termite inspection will reveal if there are any termites in the home.  If there are evidence of termite infestation,  it is customary for the Sellers to pay for fumigation. Termites can cause damage if not treated right away. 


In most cases, termite damage shouldn't be a deal-breaker, unless you find that there are extensive and unresolved structural damage to the home caused by termites.
